1. The Mewtwo Project

The Mewtwo Project has been explored quite a bit more in this RPG than it was in either the Game Boy game or the anime series. Here is what is known so far about the Mewtwo Project:

a. The Mewtwo Project was started by the Pokemon League at least as early as Jason Mickel's period as Champion, though it was called a different name at the time. Prior to the discovery of Mew, the Project was know as the Champion Project, and was aimed at increasing the power of League-class Pokemon. However, the Project soon began to work on other things, such as the creation of new species of Pokemon.

b. The Project's scientists discovered Mew about 20 years ago. They began experiments. It is known that they took at least 20 Mew captive. 10 of them had genetic alteration. The first few of these were simple, changing the form and Type of them while retaining the psychic abilities of the Mew. Two "Drat-Mews" were created by the Project. One of them is now the Dragonite held by Lance. Not even the Project's current team knows the location of Mewtype 1.

c. The Project then moved on to the creation of new species. Eight of the other Mews were genetically transformed into huge, powerful monsters. However, these monsters could not be controlled, and soon most escaped. The Project killed one of them before it got away. Mewtypes 6, 7, and 8 were the most hideous of them all.

d. The Project gave up on making Mewtypes controllable and proceeded with another plan... combing the DNA of many powerful Pokemon, mostly that of Mew, to create a strong yet controllable monster. Mewtwo was created 17 years ago by the Project.

e. The Project exists today, though its goals are unknown.
